WHY
YOUR ANNUAL FURNACE CLEANING IS SO IMPORTANT
Why is it that people will spend $200.00 every month
of the year to have cable tv and internet, but will
not clean/service their furnace just once a year for
around $100.00?
Over the past couple of weeks, we have made several
service calls where we discovered furnaces that had
not been cleaned and serviced regularly. In one
particular case, we arrived at the door, and after
several minutes waiting, a very confused customer
opened the door. We could immediately smell fumes,
and the customer advised us that she hadn’t been
feeling well for a couple of weeks. The furnace had
been so neglected in the past that we literally had
to bust the smoke pipe off to get at the top of the
furnace to clean it. Some of the pictures below are
from that particular service call. Not only were
there potential health issues as a result of the
furnace working poorly, but the extra cost of oil
that had been spent to run this inefficient furnace
would have easily been in the hundreds of dollars –
much more than the cost of a simple annual cleaning.
There was a happy ending to this potentially
dangerous situation. During a follow-up visit today,
the customer indicated to us that she is feeling
better, and that the air quality in her home is much
better. Putting off your annual furnace cleaning is
not worth the potential health hazards to your
family. It will also end up costing you more money
in the long run because you’ll have to buy more oil
to keep an inefficient furnace running, and you may
be faced with huge repair costs in the end.
